Active Shooter, Lockdown at Clovis North and Granite Ridge Schools Following Threat Alleged in Clovis North High School Fatal Shooting
Clovis North High School and Granite Ridge Intermediate School were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon while police looked into a claimed threat, causing classes to be briefly suspended on both campuses.
According to the Fresno Police Department, officers were called to the Clovis North Educational Center at approximately 1:40 p.m. after learning of a potential threat to the institution.
Students in a Granite Ridge Intermediate classroom are shown in a shared photo gathered together in the dark with the lights off while staff and students adhere to lockdown procedures. As cops attempted to secure the school, the entire university huddled in place, and the shot caught the stressful moments.
Police said in a statement that they believe the incident was caused by a phone threat to the school and that the lockdown was implemented out of prudence. To make sure everyone was secure, officers searched the campus thoroughly and collaborated closely with Clovis Unified School District authorities.
There have been no verified reports of an active threat on campus as of Thursday afternoon, and no injuries have been recorded.
While police finished their investigation, parents and community members were requested to stay away from the area.
As additional information becomes available, updates will be given because this is a developing story.
