The Belfast Metropolitan College community is in mourning for Stephen O'Hanlon, a well regarded educator who unexpectedly died on October 1, 2025.
Students and coworkers alike will mourn Mr. O'Hanlon, who was highly regarded as a devoted teacher and colleague. In addition to his career in education, he was a loving husband to Geraldine, a proud grandfather to Darcy, Jack, and Jacob, and a cherished father to Stephanie, Patrick, and Katie.
The family has finalized the funeral preparations. Visitation hours for Mr. O'Hanlon will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. starting on Friday, October 3. On Monday, October 6, at 9:30 a.m., St. Gerard's Church, Antrim Road, will hold a Requiem Mass. Greencastle Cemetery will be the final resting place.
In their loving remembrance, his family said: "A quiet prayer, a silent thought, for someone unique in God's care."
As they cope with Mr. O'Hanlon's unexpected death, Belfast Metropolitan College has sent its greatest sympathies to his family, friends, coworkers, and students.
