Four people are killed in the Sugar Land–Houston murder-suicide, including a suspect.
Three innocent persons were killed in Wednesday's fatal shooting spree that spanned from Sugar Land to southwest Houston before the gunman committed himself, according to investigators.
Two of the fatalities have been named by police as Hector Vasquez, 35, who owns an auto business in Houston, and Shelley Perrault, 47, of Rosenberg. Before passing away from what seems to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators believe the alleged shooter—who has not yet been officially identified—killed his ex-wife, her new partner, and a bystander.
Around 12:30 p.m., the violence broke out in Sugar Land in the 12900 block of Dairy Ashford Road, close to Highway 90. A white SUV that had gone off the road was discovered by officers who were responding to reports of a collision and shooting.
Officers found Shelley Perrault inside the car, with several gunshot wounds. Until paramedics arrived, two witnesses helped cops perform lifesaving procedures. After being taken to Ben Taub Hospital, Perrault passed away from her wounds.
Later, investigators concluded that the shooting was a targeted strike related to a domestic relationship between the suspect and Perrault rather than a random incident. The suspect, according to the police, followed her car before shooting.
Police notified neighboring agencies of the suspect's gray SUV by issuing a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) after the Sugar Land incident.
Houston police were called to a repair business on Fondren Road close to West Orem Drive around 1:30 p.m., approximately one hour later.
When the Sugar Land shooting suspect reached the store, he shot and murdered an unidentified 51-year-old mechanic, according to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson.
When the suspect also turned the gun on the shop's owner, 35-year-old Hector Vasquez, he allegedly started filming the event on his phone. Outside his company, Houston Elite, Vasquez was shot and died.
Another call regarding a car parked in the 8000 block of Creekbend Drive close to South Gessner Road was made to Houston police shortly after, at 2:00 p.m. Officers discovered the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the SUV.
According to authorities, the gunshots seem to have been caused by domestic violence between the suspect and Perrault, who had allegedly been in a previous relationship.
According to Lt. Crowson, "this was not a random act." "This seems to have been a targeted series of shootings that began in Sugar Land and culminated here in Houston, and the culprit and victim knew each other."
The Houston Police Department and the Sugar Land Police Department are working together to look into the
Both communities are shaken by the news of the killings. Friends and clients recalled Vasquez, a well-known mechanic and small business owner, as being devoted to his family, courteous, and diligent.
Perrault was a kind mother and friend who had been reestablishing her life after quitting a long-term relationship, according to her loved ones.
One friend at the scene remarked, "This was a needless act of violence that took the lives of decent individuals." "This was not fair to them."
The identity of the male victim who was killed with Vasquez has not yet been made public by the police, pending notification of his nearest of kin. As they attempt to piece together the events, investigators are examining security footage and speaking with witnesses.
Authorities are still urging anyone with information regarding the shootings to get in touch with Sugar Land Police or the Homicide Division of the Houston Police Department.
