In the Westwood Park neighborhood of San Francisco, a father, mother, and two children were discovered dead after a murder-suicide.
In the Westwood Park neighborhood of San Francisco, a terrible tragedy occurred Wednesday afternoon when four family members, thought to include two children, were discovered dead inside a house on the 900 block of Monterey Boulevard. The case is being looked at by authorities as a potential murder-suicide.
Around 1:25 p.m., a worried family member asked for a welfare check at the home, prompting police and firemen to react to a call for medical assistance, according to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). When rescue personnel arrived, they found the deaths of four individuals, who were identified by reports as a husband, wife, and their two small children, who were reportedly eight and ten years old.
Law enforcement sources told local media that another family member discovered the grim find, believed to be the brother of the spouse, who had been unable to reach his relatives and alerted the authorities. Officers discovered all four victims unconscious when they entered the house. They were declared dead at the spot despite efforts to provide assistance.
The identities, ages, and cause of death of the individuals have not yet been verified by San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) and San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officials. Investigators stated that there is no continuing threat to the public and that no other people were discovered within the house.
Officers are canvassing the neighborhood and guarding the property as part of the investigation taken over by the San Francisco Police Homicide Detail. In addition to forensic teams helping the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office determine each family member's cause and manner of death, detectives are now gathering evidence from the scene.
Although they have not identified the potential perpetrator among the victims, authorities are handling the case as a murder-suicide.
According to an SFPD spokesperson, "this is a really terrible and delicate case." "Before disclosing any additional information, we are making every effort to collect all available information and make sure that the next of kin are informed."
The announcement stunned residents of Westwood Park, a peaceful, family-friendly neighborhood close to City College in San Francisco. The victims were a discreet, kind family who had just lately moved into the house, according to the neighbors.
The four-bedroom house at 930 Monterey Boulevard had just been sold, according to property records. The property was once owned by Thomas “T.R.” Ocheltree and Paula Truong, a married couple with two children, according to online real estate postings. They apparently resided there for a number of years before experiencing financial difficulties.
The house was bought for $1.35 million in 2014, according to Redfin. Following the owners' mortgage default, the property entered foreclosure in early 2024, according to public auction records. Nine months later, it was purchased by a lender.
It is uncertain if the new inhabitants or the departed family were the original owners.
Regarding the cause of death, possible motive, and chronology of events, authorities have not issued an official statement. In the days ahead, the victims will be formally identified and autopsied by the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office.
Anyone with information on the case is being asked by SFPD to text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with "SFPD," or call the department's Tip Line at (415) 575-4444.
This story is still in progress and will be updated as more details become available.
