Obituary and Cause of Death for Logan Nathaniel Musil: SWOSU Student Found Dead in Murray County Following Weeklong Search; Suspect Arrested
The community at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is in mourning for Logan Nathaniel Musil, an 18-year-old student who was discovered dead in Murray County after going missing on September 30. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities announced that an arrest has been made in relation to the case.
Officials said that when Musil's disappearance was reported on October 5, the SWOSU Police Department asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) for help. In collaboration with several local, state, and federal authorities, OSBI investigators began a thorough search that concentrated on the locations where Musil was last thought to have been seen.
Based on information discovered early in the hunt, investigators focused their efforts close to Veteran's Lake in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Human remains were found in a nearby wooded area on October 8 as a result of a coordinated ground operation by the OSBI, the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department, the Murray County Sheriff's Office, and the National Park Service. Logan Musil was subsequently identified after the body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
During the course of the inquiry, OSBI investigators discovered that Musil had been in a fight with someone else before he passed away. On October 9, the individual—who was later identified as 18-year-old Cameron Lewis—was arrested in Weatherford. Since then, as investigators continue to compile evidence to ascertain his involvement in the incident, he has been lodged into the Custer County Jail.
