A man was discovered deceased due to a gunshot wound to the head outside a business establishment on the city’s West Side early on Thursday morning, as reported by the San Antonio police.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire just prior to 3:00 a.m. on the 1200 block of Historic Old Highway 90 in the vicinity of Acme Road. Upon their arrival, they found 36-year-old Ricky Contreras Hernandez on the ground in front of the store.
Investigators reported that a vehicle thought to belong to the victim was located close by, marked with several bullet holes in its windshield. Authorities suspect the shooting took place in or near the vehicle, although the precise details are still under investigation.
Currently, there have been no arrests made, and police indicated they do not have any suspect details at this time. Detectives are examining surveillance cameras from the business and nearby areas in an effort to identify individuals involved.
Hernandez was an alumnus of John F. Kennedy High School in San Antonio, and the news of his passing has caused deep sorrow among those who were familiar with him.
