Scott Langlois New Bedford Motorcycle Accident: Late-Night Motorcycle Collision on Route 24 in Fall River Kills New Bedford Man
Late Tuesday night on Route 24, a 51-year-old man from New Bedford lost his life in a horrific motorcycle accident that is being looked into by authorities. Troops from the Massachusetts State Police were sent to the location just after 10 p.m., close to Exit 2, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. When they arrived, they found his motorcycle on the off-ramp's median, a few feet away, and the motorcyclist resting on a patch of grass next to the highway's crash barrier.
The 51-year-old New Bedford resident Scott Langlois was recognized as the victim. He received urgent medical attention at the scene from emergency personnel before being taken to a neighboring hospital. Despite their best attempts, Langlois' injuries from the collision led to his death shortly after. Although the precise reason of the crash is still being investigated, officials said it seemed to simply involve his motorcycle.
According to preliminary findings, there were no indications of foul play or criminal behavior. Before reopening the route later that evening, authorities caused major delays in the area by temporarily closing and rerouting traffic on Route 24 while crash reconstruction teams performed an on-site inspection. Together with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, investigators from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are spearheading the investigation.
To ascertain what caused the collision, detectives are examining tire tracks, road conditions, and mechanical evidence. To create a more precise chronology of events, they are also examining local CCTV footage and speaking with possible witnesses.
