TPSO is looking into the shooting in the Hammond area. Lawrence Wilson's obituary and cause of death

 According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO), 18-year-old Lawrence Wilson, the shooter on Monday, has passed away from his wounds. As a homicide, the case is currently under investigation.

According to authorities, Wilson was shot in the head and taken to a nearby hospital shortly before 4:00 p.m. on September 29. He eventually passed away from his wounds in spite of medical efforts.

Investigators have explained that a person who was first believed to be involved in the shooting was actually a good Samaritan who assisted Wilson in getting to the hospital.

Reports of gunfire between two vehicles in the 13000 block of Miley Niquiporo Road earlier that day sparked the conflict. Other reports of gunfire at a car close to the crossroads of Rufus Bankston Road and Highway 1064 were received shortly after. Detectives now think these incidents are connected to Wilson's deadly shooting, even though no injuries were recorded at the scenes right away.

Detectives from the TPSO are still looking into a number of leads and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
