Wagener, Jacob Langley, SC Car Accident: Horrible Collision Kills Young Driver, Sends Two Vehicles Into Water
Jacob Langley, age 21, has been identified by the Aiken County Coroner's Office as the victim of a sad crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon and sent two vehicles into Lake Neeses.
Officials say the collision happened along Wagener Road and Flowing Wells Road at approximately 1:03 p.m. Jacob was trying to turn left in his 1991 GMC Sonoma when a 2013 Chevy Silverado hit his car. Both cars fell into the lake.
Emergency personnel hurried to the area, including Couchton Fire Rescue and a dive squad. Unfortunately, at 1:40 p.m., Jacob Langley was declared deceased. In Newberry, an autopsy is planned for the following week.
There were no major injuries to the other driver in the collision. Around 4:30 p.m., the roads on Wagener Road were reopened, and the area was cleared just before 5 p.m.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the Aiken County Coroner's Office is receiving assistance from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
The community, friends, and family of Jacob are very saddened by his sudden death. His spirit, his presence, and the life he led in his brief 21 years will live on in our memories. I hope he finds peace.
