Liv Reed Incident: Youngster from Sunderland Identified as Victim in Fatal A19 Crash
A girl aged 17 has been identified as the unfortunate victim of a deadly incident on the A19 late in the evening of Monday, November 24. Liv Reed, who was from Sunderland, died from her injuries at the scene after the vehicle she occupied left the northbound road between Seaham and the Herrington Interchange, according to information provided by Northumbria Police.
Reports indicate that Reed was riding as a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa driven by a 19-year-old male, who suffered severe injuries. Emergency services were notified shortly after 11 p.m. Officials have stated that the car went off the road for undetermined reasons, resulting in a crash that led to a fire, which was promptly extinguished.
Despite the efforts of the emergency personnel, Reed was pronounced dead at the location. The driver was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he remains in critical condition. Both families have been notified about the situation.
Sgt. John Sanderson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit of Northumbria Police expressed his condolences to Reed’s family and called upon any witnesses to come forward.
“Firstly, we want to convey our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the young woman who has tragically lost her life,” Sanderson remarked. “An extensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway… I encourage anyone with knowledge, particularly those with dashcam footage, to get in touch with us to help us fully understand the incident from last night.”

A Family and Community in Mourning
In a heartfelt public tribute, Reed’s mother shared her memories of her daughter, describing her as a lively and loving teenager whose presence touched everyone around her.
“This morning, I lost my amazing daughter Olivia,” she said. “My heart is broken into many pieces... You made a significant impact during your 17 years in this world. Every breath I take is for you. My love for you is deeper than anything you could ever imagine.”
Reed worked as a waitress at Tarantinos Restaurant in Sunderland, where her coworkers expressed their sorrow and paid tribute to the unforgettable young girl.
