Carson Lawson Slidell, La Death and Obituary – The Slidell community is in mourning over the tragic loss of 5-year-old Carson Lawson, who was fatally struck by a vehicle operated by his grandmother on the morning of Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This unfortunate incident happened shortly after 7 a.m. in the driveway of his home situated on the 300 block of Spartan Loop, as Carson waited for his school bus to arrive.

Tragically, the child was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

An inquiry conducted by the Slidell Police Department uncovered that Anders was intoxicated, having consumed alcohol and central nervous system depressants during the time of the accident. She has been arrested and faces charges of vehicular homicide. Slidell Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau has described the occurrence as a “parent’s worst nightmare,” underscoring the significant impact this has left on both the family and the wider community.

Carson’s mother has shared her deep anguish, referring to the incident as an unimaginable loss and pushing for greater awareness concerning safety around vehicles and driveways. The local community has come together to support the family, offering condolences during this extremely difficult time.

This tragedy has ignited discussions within Slidell and surrounding areas about the safety of children in proximity to vehicles, particularly in residential driveways. Safety specialists have pointed out that larger SUVs and trucks often have blind spots that impede visibility of young children, emphasizing the need for constant watchfulness, oversight, and the use of safety features like backup cameras or sensors.

Local organizations are encouraging parents and caretakers to educate children about the significance of maintaining distance from vehicles and ensuring that drivers remain vigilant when backing up or exiting driveways. The Slidell Police Department has also reiterated the dangers linked to driving under the influence, stressing the need for accountability and proactive measures to prevent similar tragedies.

Carson Lawson is lovingly remembered as a joyful and lively young boy whose life was cut short. Friends, relatives, and neighbors describe him as being brimming with energy and curiosity, bringing happiness to those around him. His untimely death serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the critical importance of safety and awareness, particularly in familiar environments such as one’s own driveway.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and officials continue to urge drivers to be more cautious, especially when children are involved.
