Aundre Matthews, a resident of Baytown, Texas, is facing murder charges linked to a fatal stabbing incident at Ross S. Sterling High School.
A student from Ross S. Sterling High School has tragically died after suffering injuries from an altercation in a classroom on Wednesday morning, as stated by officials.
The Baytown Police Department reported that officers were sent to the location following a stabbing report at approximately 10:42 a.m. KPRC 2 later confirmed that the incident occurred during a dispute within a classroom at Ross S. Sterling High School.
Authorities revealed that the confrontation involved two male students. One student attacked the other with scissors during the altercation. The alleged attacker is 18 years old, whereas the victim was a minor. Both students attended the same school.
Following the incident, the injured student was transported by ambulance and then airlifted to the Texas Medical Center via Life Flight. According to the Baytown Fire Department, landing conditions for the helicopter were not optimal at the school, requiring the student to be taken to Baytown Airport before being airlifted. Sadly, despite medical efforts, the student did not survive his injuries. Officials confirmed his death at approximately 3:35 p.m.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Aundre Matthews, has been taken into custody and booked at the Baytown jail on a murder charge. The victim has been identified as Andrew Meismer.

In response to the incident, Ross S. Sterling High School underwent a temporary lockdown as a precaution. Officials from Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District stated that they notified the parents of both students involved. The lockdown was eventually lifted, with assurances that there was no ongoing threat to students or staff on campus.
The inquiry is being managed by the Goose Creek CISD Police Department. In a statement released around 3:45 p.m., the department confirmed the student’s death and remarked that the other student remains in police custody. Officials indicated that more information would not be made available during the ongoing criminal investigation and encouraged the community to support the students, staff, and especially the family of the deceased student.
Later, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Goose Creek CISD reiterated that they would not reveal the names of the students involved due to the active investigation and the privacy regulations established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The district acknowledged that public records related to the criminal case might be obtained through law enforcement and county officials.
