Several law enforcement agencies are responding to a serious incident reported on Sunday at a high-end five-star resort in Aruba, where a married couple was discovered dead in what authorities are probing as a possible murder-suicide.
Early accounts suggest that police and multiple ambulance teams were dispatched to The St. Regis Aruba Resort, located at J.E. Irausquin Blvd. 75 E, after receiving a report about a person who had jumped from an upper floor of the building. Upon their arrival, officers found an adult male who had succumbed to his injuries after falling from the 12th floor. Officials confirmed that he died upon hitting the ground.
Investigators subsequently examined the couple's hotel room, where they located the body of an adult female. According to police, she exhibited noticeable gunshot wounds. No other injuries have been reported, and there are no current signs of additional suspects being involved.
Authorities revealed that the couple had arrived at the resort to celebrate their honeymoon after tying the knot earlier that weekend. Their identities have not yet been released, as officials await the notification of their relatives.
As a precautionary measure, the investigating officers closed off the resort's pool area and restricted access to parts of the site associated with the incident. Guests were advised to avoid the impacted areas while the investigation is underway.
Law enforcement officials continue to be present at the scene and have stated that the case is actively being investigated. Further details are expected to be shared as the inquiry unfolds.
