Sarah Rice Obituary Update: The community feels a deep sorrow as Sarah Rice and another person are reported dead following an alleged murder-suicide in Bethlehem.

 The Bethlehem community is grieving the death of two individuals who died from gunshot wounds on Friday night, in an incident that officials are treating as a possible murder-suicide, according to reports from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.


At around 10:45 p.m., emergency responders arrived at a home in the 200 block of 10th Avenue. Inside, they found 39-year-old Sarah Rice deceased. Additionally, a 42-year-old man, identified by relatives as Gregory “Greg,” was discovered with gunshot wounds. He was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he was pronounced dead at 11:39 p.m., as confirmed by Coroner Daniel Buglio. Autopsies for both individuals are set to take place on Monday.

The Bethlehem Police Department is leading the inquiry, with assistance from the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the coroner’s office. No further details have been provided as the investigation continues.

In light of this tragic incident, Sarah Rice's family released a statement honoring her life and encouraging the community to come together in her memory.

“Our beloved Sarah Rice was taken from us far too early due to a tragic event at her home,” read the family’s statement. “At the young age of 39, Sarah has left an immense void in our lives.”

Sarah Rice is cherished as a devoted mother of four and a beloved daughter and sister. She is survived by her mother, Lori Rice; her elder sister, Janell Rice; and her children—2-year-old Mila Reign, Gianna, Aria, and Aliyah. Friends and family describe her as nurturing, resilient, and entirely devoted to her children.

Numerous tributes from her friends have poured in, reflecting the compassion she shared with others. “Sarah had a remarkable ability to make people feel valued and loved,” shared one friend. “Her commitment to her children was profound—it was evident in everything she did.” Another added, “She represented strength and kindness, always present for those she cared for.”

The Bethlehem Area School District acknowledged the tragedy in a statement, stressing that the incident has affected students in the district. “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted during this extremely difficult time,” the district noted, highlighting their dedication to offering appropriate support while respecting the privacy of the students and families involved.

As the investigation moves forward, it is expected that community members will gather at the vigil to honor Sarah Rice, celebrate her life, and foster a supportive environment for each other during this sorrowful time.
