 Dedicated to Denise "Dee" Thompson After a brief illness that she bravely faced, Denise (Dee) Thompson, 70, went away quietly on Thursday, August 28, surrounded by her family's affection. A proud Ouma to Jimmy and Finn, a loving mother to Rachel and Clare, and a loyal nana to Aimee, Kiera, and Erin. Dee was a beloved mother-in-law, sister, and aunt, as well as Mick's beloved companion and Kerry's lifelong special friend. Everyone who knew Dee was impacted by her warmth, compassion, and kindness, and her family and friends will always cherish her memory. On Friday, September 12 at 11 a.m., St. John's Church in Keswick will host a ceremony to honor her life. The family respectfully requests that guests wear blue, Dee's favorite color, in her honor. On August 16, 2025, Johnny, 48, died after suffering a severe heart attack. His cherished wife, Tammy, 53, was discovered at their house on August 18 after passing away suddenly. Their unexpected passing has had a profound effect on friends, relatives, and the Prattville community.  Two Boone County Sheriff's deputies were shot while executing a felony warrant in Walton late Thursday night, setting off a tense and deadly scenario. Just after 10 p.m., deputies were trying to serve a warrant for past-due child support to a male residing at an apartment on Towne Creek Drive when they were confronted with "heavy gunfire," according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Both deputies sustained multiple injuries. One was carried to UC Medical Center by air ambulance, and the other was taken by ground ambulance. Both deputies are in stable condition, with one needing surgery, according to BCSO Major Philip Ridgell. Although Ridgell later stated that their prognoses are "very favorable," he nevertheless described the situation as a "worst nightmare."  Following the untimely loss of Jose Mercado, a little youngster whose life was cut short on Thursday morning, August 28th, the Beckville community has been devastated. A 911 call indicating a shooting at a residence on Jones Street was received by Panola County Dispatch at 6:52 a.m. Deputies from UT Health EMS, the Beckville Volunteer Fire Department, Constable Precincts 2 and 3, and the Panola County Sheriff's Office raced to the site. When they got there, family members were frantically performing CPR on Jose, who had been shot. Jose died from his wounds in spite of the first responders' ceaseless attempts. The Justice of the Peace and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the site. Because of the child's age, Child Protective Services will carry out a parallel inquiry once authorities determined that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
